Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code, a fanciful story, or an exposer on the routes of Christianity?
There was a BBC TV doentary on this recently, and it was shown that some people in France decided to set up a ruse with a plot that got various people roped in. A great money-making scheme, because the world is full of people who just cannot resist a conspiracy theory. As with all believable conspiracy theories, there has to be some truth involved. Sensible people will sift that out from the imagined or deliberately falsified stuff. But that takes a bit of effort and integrity. Thus the world runs after Dan Brown and his nonsense, whilst he trots off to the Bank.
